Black Forest "Smilla" Eiderdown Duvet

Black Forest is our collection of the very finest luxury bedding. It combines the highest quality with the utmost comfort and elegant design. Our very special “SMILLA” duvet is filled with eider duck down. Eider down is the most sought-after type of down and is very rare, which is why it is also the most expensive and exclusive filling material for down duvets.

It is one of the last unadulterated natural products, collected and hand-sorted with the utmost care by licensed eiderdown farmers. No other down can match eiderdown in terms of softness, warmth and lightness. It is also the most durable down; it is said to have a lifespan of up to 50 years.

Materials and workmanship

As is well known, even the ‘Princess and the Pea’ slept on 20 eiderdown duvets… For ‘SMILLA’, we import the eiderdown directly from Iceland, where the finest quality eiderdown is harvested according to a centuries-old tradition. Eiderdown is one of the highest-quality raw materials that nature has to offer.

A suitable cover fabric for this high-quality filling is a silk jacquard in silver-grey or champagne. Silk is very light, has a flowing drape and a soothing, climate-regulating effect. The silk used in our BLACK FOREST collection is sourced from sustainable production to protect the silkworm population.

As a result, the silk cocoon is only collected once the moth has already eaten its way through it.
